2010 NAPA THUNDER NATIONALS:TAKE TWO
For more than two decades the NAPA Thunder Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park have served notice that winter was over and spring had returned to the historic track. Unfortunately, Mother Nature was the Top Eliminator on the original May dates for this year’s event. However, the rain clouds have cleared and even bigger fields are expected for the second attempt at the 2010 running of this great event. The 2010 NAPA Thunder Nationals should prove to be a worthy part of that great series of races as it expands to two nights for the first time ever. “The Fastest Track in Michigan” will host the 2010 NAPA Thunder Nationals this Friday and Saturday, July 9 and 10. FIVE WORLD CHAMPIONS DESCEND ON US 131 MOTORSPORTS PARK FOR MMPSA EVENT
CRETE, Ill. July 6, 2010: Good things often come in disguise. Such is the case with the rescheduled MMPSA race at US131 Motorsports Park. The original event slated for early May was postponed due to weather and the new date was set for July 9-10. Although the postponement was disappointing at the time, little did all involved realize what doors would open because of the date change. This weekend five Mountain Motor World Champions will be on hand to battle it out for the third MMPSA title in its inaugural year.
NAPA THUNDER NATIONALS NEXT FRIDAY & SATURDAY
The MMPSA, Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association, is coming to US 131 Motorsports Park July 9 & 10, next Friday and Saturday for the rescheduled NAPA Thunder Nationals. With three qualifying rounds set for Friday night and one on Saturday before eliminations fans are sure to get their fill of these 840 cubic inch motors. This Saturday, July 3rd local racers will return to “The Fastest Track in Michigan” with a double race day in the Lane Automotive Bracket Series. Two races in one day!
The last scheduled bracket race was on June 5th but was cut short unfortunately due to rain. Those racers that entered the event on June 5th in Top ET and Street will have a rain check for the racer entry only at the gate upon arrival. The Modified class was able to complete one round of eliminations. As US 131 Motorsports Park rules state, with one round completed the winners of the first round also have a rain check for the driver entry awaiting them at the gate. There are no crew/spectator rain out tickets for the June 5th event as one round of class competition was completed in the Modified class and the Jr. Dragster races were completed. CARSTAR FRIDAY PACKED WITH FUELED FUN
This Friday’s CARSTAR Fun ‘n Grudge is filled with open test & tune, grudge runs and the ever popular Midnight Madness with burnout contest. New this year is the CARSTAR Car Show and Drag Racing 101 classes for new racers or those who want to learn more.
The CARSTAR Car Show is open to any make, model or year of car. There is no additional cost to enter. Car Show registration is from 5pm-10pm. Trophies will be awarded at 11pm.
Drag Racing 101 will begin at 9 pm. The class size is limited so be sure to sign up at Kimberly’s Kafé when you arrive. You will learn the basics of drag racing, how to better your reaction time and become familiar with what’s needed at tech to run your vehicle and many other racing tips and terms.
