Car Shows, Drag Racing, Specialty Vendors, Bren and Jerry’s Nice Dreams Challenge~

If you’ve never had a Volkswagen, get one – and drive it on out to US 131 Motorsports Park this Sunday for the 18th renewal of Fall Eurofest presented by Latimore Racing Engines, a celebration of the European car culture featuring drag racing, beautiful car show, specialty vendors, a swap meet and more.

Although the event once was VW-exclusive, it now is open to any car with a European pedigree.  There will be a terrific car show, including classic and modern VWs and for everyone else with a BMW, a Ferrari, a Citroen, a Fiat, a Saab, an Audi, an Alfa, an MG or a Bugatti nameplate, to name but a few.

Nevertheless, despite the name change and format expansion, purists still refer to the event as “The Bug Run” and there will be plenty of the iconic VWs in both the off-track judging and the on-track racing in Pro/Super Pro and Street classes.  Although a cash purse will be distributed down to the semifinal losers, the winners’ shares will be $600 in the former and $300 in the latter.

But the “dash for cash” doesn’t stop there.  Thanks to the continued benevolence of Bren Hartman and Jerry Neidlinger, the bracket winners in Super Pro/Pro and Street once again will race one another for a $100 cash bonus and bragging rights in the Bren and Jerry’s Nice Dream Challenge. Similarly, the runners-up in those two categories will race for a $50 bonus.

Spectator admission is $15 for adults; $5 for kids 6-12, but if you want to put your Porsche or your Peugeot on Michigan’s Fastest Track for fun runs outside of the organized racing program, you can do so for just an additional $20.

“Fun Run” time trials will begin at 11 a.m. with racing at 12 noon.  Car show awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m. followed immediately by a “Best of Show” parade down the quarter-mile.
